SUMMARY

Individual performs various duties at truck and / or equipment repair shops. Maintains excellent housekeeping around the shop by sweeping, shoveling, etc. Organizes tools and parts for efficient work. May perform repairs as needed to shop equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs housekeeping duties to keep shop clean for safety and efficiency.
  • Collects trash from containers and empties into a dumpster on premises.
  • Vacuums, sweeps, and or mops floors as needed.
  • Cleans all counters and surfaces.
  • Cleans restroom mirrors, fixtures, and surfaces, and restocks toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
  • Assist the shop foreman with the daily operations and upkeep of the shop.
  • Performs ongoing ā€œ5Sā€ duties, i.e.: organizes tools and parts for efficient work.
  • Properly disposes of scrap metal, shop waste streams, according to established plans.
  • Ability to access all areas of the shop to perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
  • Other duties as directed.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and public at all times.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Policies, Programs & Procedures Manual.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve performance.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Meets productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.
  • Ability to follow directions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
