Job Title: PARKS Janitor
Reports To: Director of Maintenance
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
Maintains grounds of public property.
Basic Qualifications
• Physically able to do manual task including heavy lifting (100 lbs)
• Stands and walks up to 8 hours daily on various surfaces while performing various other duties
• Lifts and carries up to 100 lbs while performing job duties.
• Pushes and pulls with assistance up to 350 lbs of tables, chairs, sand bags and boxes.
• Occasionally climbs up to 30 feet in order to paint.
• Bends, twists, stoops, and rotates upper torso while performing various job duties. Frequently reaches to perform various job duties.
• Must have corrected vision to: (a) be aware of surroundings and location of various items needed; and (b) perform various job duties.
• Handles various items. Handling may be done unilaterally (one-handed) or bilaterally (two-handed) depending on size and shape of object and task being performed.
• Must be capable of effectively communicating in person and over the telephone with supervisors, co-workers and the general public.
• Environmental conditions: Temperature may vary due to outdoor exposure. Exposed to fumes, odors, dust and gases.
• Must have capability to use, the following machines, tools and/or equipment: mowers, weed eaters, backhoe, welding machine, hammer, wrench, sander, drills and screwdriver. (Full-Time)
• Must be alert and able to identify a hazard, should one occur, in order to avoid it by reporting immediately or, if directed, by taking corrective measures.
Essential Job Functions
• Keeps office or similar building in clean and orderly condition.
• Tends the furnace, air conditioner, boiler, etc to maintain heat or cooling of building.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, polishes, strips floors and cleans carpets using appropriate tools.
• Cleans bathrooms and kitchens, empties garbage, performs minor repairs and routing painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, moves furniture, storage boxes, and other related maintenance activities using hand tools.
• Notifies supervisor of major repairs or additions, equipment, and supplies that are needed.
• Cleans snow and debris from sidewalks.
• May be required to mow lawn, trim shrubs, cultivate flowers and pick up trash from grounds.
• May be required to water grounds during dry periods, and may be required to fill in at other divisions of department due to absences, illness, or during a major project within department.
Minimum Qualifications
• 18 years of age (Full-Time)
• High School diploma (Full-Time)
• 16 years of age (Part-Time)
Salary
$15.00/Hour
